Helpful Tips to Ace your Interview!

Tip 1:  Research the Company.

 

Tip 2:  Dress professionally.  Don't wear jeans.  Have great hair and makeup.

 

Tip 3:   Match your skills to what you know about the position.  Determine what abilities, knowledge, interests, traits, values and accomplishment you have that would make you the person to hire for the position.

 

Tip 4:  Prepare answers to common interview questions so you can answer quickly and effectively.  See list of common interview questions.

 

Tip 5:  Prepare questions you have about the job.  Avoid asking questions about vacation time, breaks, absents, tardiness, etc.

 

Tip 6:  Practice to avoid coming off as awkward.  You can do this with a friend or in front of the mirror.

 

Tip 7:  Send a thank you letter following the interview.

  5. Explain why you would be an asset to this organization.
  6. What is your greatest strength?
  7. Tell me about your dream job.
  8. What would your previous employer say your strongest point is?
  9. Tell me about your ability to work under pressure.
  10. What qualities do you look for in a boss?
  11. Describe your work ethic.
  12. What are your long range goals and objectives?
  13. What are your short range goals and objectives?
  14. What motivates you to put forth your greatest effort?  Describe a situation in which you did so.
  15. What have you learned from participation in extracurricular activities?
  16. In what kind of environment are you most comfortable?
  17. Are you willing to spend at least six months as a trainee?
  18. Was there an occasion when you disagreed with a supervisor's decision or company policy?  Describe how you handled the situation.
  19. Describe a situation in which you worked as part of a team.  What role did you take on?  What went well and what didn't?
  20. Describe a situation in which you had to work with a difficult person (another student, co-worker, customer, supervisor, etc).  How did you handle the situation?  Is there anything you would have done differently in hindsight?
